Spooky Blair Witch-inspired horror game

The House In The Woods is a free horror adventure game developed by an indie developer named MINIGOLIATH for desktop plays. Heavily-inspired by films such as The Blair Witch Project and The Void, the plot of the story revolves around a camping trip wherein your friend suddenly vanished, and as you attempt to look for your friend, you got loss also. According to the developer’s description, this short game has an average session of half an hour but, most of the game streamers who already reviewed this only took approximately 10 minutes of the play-through.

Explore the forest, unravel mysteries

In this exploration game, you will enter the woods and search every nook of the forest for possible clues regarding your friend’s disappearance. As you go further into the game, you will discover secrets not only about the loss of your friend but also regarding the mysteries surrounding the forest. The creepy ambiance that it provides is insanely good. You can also expect tons of jump-scare scenes although, it’s quite weak.

You can control this game through your keyboard as well as the Xbox controller. It is also best to play this horror game with headphones on, as its music and sound effects greatly add to the eerie vibes that the game tries to showcase. Some even find this free-to-play indie game better than the actual Blair Witch game, especially at the house part scenes.

Originally made for the Haunted PS1 Wretched Weekend #1 for around 48 hours only, this revamped game version was a post-jam update of it. All the details and features that didn’t meet the deadline were added here, such as its proper ending. Nevertheless, the developers still consider this as an early prototype.

Excellent even in its early stage

The House In The Woods is a highly recommended game, especially for players who enjoy this type of game genre. The jumpscares can still be enhanced. However, it does not really affect your game experience. From the game’s storyline and atmosphere to its controls, everything is greatly crafted
